The "40th World Fantasy Convention" was held from November 6 to November 9, 2014, in Washington D.C., USA.
Virgil Finlay was one of the three so-called Centennials. The convention focussed on the commemoration of the births of the artist Virgil Finlay and the author Robert Aickman, as well as the beginning of World War I, one hundred years earlier.
There was an extensive Virgil Finlay art collection on display. The Book Bags of the convention included a USB thumb drive entitled "Unconventional Fantasy". "Unconventional Fantasy" is collection of fiction, nonfiction, poetry, art, and photographs celebrating forty years of World Fantasy Conventions.
The collection comprises five volumes of text, art, and historic photographs, plus the catalog of the Virgil Finlay Centennial Art Exhibit hosted by World Fantasy Convention 2014. The first five volumes bear the full title 'Unconventional Fantasy: A Celebration of Forty Years of the World Fantasy Convention', appended with the word 'Volume' and the volume number.
