Praetorian Guards

Virgil Finlay choose the third guard from the left on the full relief for his drawing. The Virgil Finlay drawing was made in 1967 for a poster of Aries in the so-called Zodiac series.

The relief made of grey veined marble depicts the Praetorian Guard and was originally part of the Arch of Claudius (~ 51-52 AD), Rome. It is currently in the possession of the Louvre Museum, Paris, France.
