Hugo Gernsback was a visionary man. Already in the April 1924 issue of 'Radio News' magazine he proposed a "Teledoctor". An update of the essay appeared in the February 1952 issue of Radio-Electronics.
The article is accompanied by two Virgil Finlay drawings. Only the one on page 55 is signed. According to the A Virgil Finlay Checklist by Gerry de la Ree, Virgil Finlay made only two illustrations for Radio-Electronics.
The idea of a teledoctor was patented on June 28, 1971 by inventor Harry Scher under the title 'Hospital Communication System'. In patent 3,588,336, reference is made to the article in Radio-Electronics by Hugo Gernsback.
