The booklet indexes "Weird Tales", "Strange Stories", "Strange Tales", "The Thrill Book", "Oriental Stories", "The Magic Carpet Magazine", Strange Tales (English)", and "Golden Fleece".

This volume is the first of two volumes indexing the selected magazines by title in 1962 and by author in 1964. The page numbers are consecutive through the two publications. The title volume includes some information not in the author section. The author index volume bears no cover illustration. There is also a smaller booklet, titled "Index to the Verse in Weird Tales" (1960), which also indexes the Virgil Finlay's poetry series in "Weird Tales".

The title index volume and the author index volume were reissued in 1975 under the title "Index to the Weird Fiction Magazines Volumes I and II" by Arno Press, New York.
