The cover is a reprint (of the original painting) of the cover of the November 1959 issue of Fantastic Universe Science Fiction. The illustration on page 30 originally illustrated the story "The Encounter" by Ray Bradbury in Amazing Stories, June 1963.

Humanspace Empires is a pulp science fiction game set in the space opera "pre-history" of Prof. M.A.R. Barker's classic fantasy world of Tékumel.
