The Fire-Fiend and the Raven contains onne illustration by Virgil Finlay, a black and white print of "Original study 2", done in watercolor and gouache on board.
The Fire-Fiend and the Raven contains illustrations by Stephen E. Fabian, Charles McGill, James B. Wandesford, Virgil Finlay and Clark Ashton Smith. Includes the text of both poems, a facsimile of Gardette's 'The Whole Truth in the Question of 'The Fire-Fiend,' and an introduction by de la Ree explaining Gardette's hoax.
Notes:
Gardette's poem in imitation of 'The Raven' was passed off by its author as an original Poe manuscript and was
published in the New York Saturday Press, 19 November 1859.
Some copies are originally accompanied by a smaller booklet (matching 450 numbered copies) of Golgotha: A Phantasm by Gardette. Nowadays many copies are missing the secondary booklet. It is unknown if all copies of the booklet were accopanied by the smaller one.
