The "40th World Fantasy Convention" was held from November 6 to November 9, 2014, in Washington D.C., USA.
Virgil Finlay was one of the three so-called Centennials. The convention focussed on the commemoration of the births of the artist Virgil Finlay and the author Robert Aickman, as well as the beginning of World War I, one hundred years earlier.

The convention hosted the launch of "The Collectors Book of Virgil Finlay". The launch was held during the Art Show Reception, Saturday, November 8, from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. in the Regency Ballroom Foyer.
There was an extensive Virgil Finlay art collection on display, 89 of them have been reproduced in Unconventional Fantasy: A Celebration of Forty Years of the World Fantasy Convention, volume 6.
